Rush-Copley Announces Plans for a Yorkville Medical Campus
Growing community to receive needed medical services

December 19, 2005

Aurora, IL – Under a plan submitted to the United City of Yorkville, community residents will be the beneficiaries of increased healthcare services in Yorkville and Kendall County.  The Concept Plan, pending the Yorkville approval process, was submitted by Rush-Copley Medical Center and contains plans for a 45-acre Medical Campus.  The Campus, proposed for the south side of Veteran’s Parkway (Route 34) just west of the Kendall County Government Center, is an extension of Rush-Copley’s partnership with local residents as the leading provider of medical services.

“Our strong relationship with the residents of Yorkville is built on years of commitment to providing top-quality healthcare,” said Barry C. Finn, CEO of Rush-Copley.  “We are tremendously excited to take this next step together in meeting the community’s needs.  We know the importance of meeting needs locally and we value our role as Yorkville’s and Kendall County’s healthcare provider.”

Rush-Copley submitted the Concept Plan for city approval prior to the development of the Medical Campus.  The phased vision in the Plan includes incrementally increasing service capabilities as needed in the community.  The initial phase includes an urgent care facility and the development of enhanced diagnostic and imaging services such as cardiac, MRI, CT and mammography.  It also includes space for physician office facilities to meet the community’s routine healthcare needs.

“We are very excited about Rush-Copley’s plans to expand its presence in Yorkville,” commented Mayor Art Prochaska.   “Bringing increased healthcare services to Yorkville and Kendall County has been a top priority for many years.”

The Concept Plan also includes a 100-acre residential parcel adjacent to the Medical Campus.  The property is owned by the Conover family, long-time Yorkville residents.  Rush-Copley’s purchase of the Medical Campus parcel is expected to close in the coming months.

“The possibilities are very exciting for Yorkville,” commented Gail Fisher, a member of the Conover family.  “The Concept Plan vision combines strategic development with much needed healthcare services.”

The Concept Plan must now be reviewed by the Yorkville Plan Commission and other groups prior to a full vote by the City Council.  The project itself is also contingent upon state regulatory approval from the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board.

Lynn Dubajic, Executive Director of the Yorkville Economic Development Corporation also supports the project.  “Healthcare is a key factor in attracting economic development projects and the overall quality of life in the region. We recognize the opportunities before us.”

Rush-Copley will be soliciting community input into the further planning of the Medical Campus.  “We look forward to working very closely with the Yorkville community in the months to come to further develop our plan,” explained Finn.  “As the leading healthcare provider to Yorkville and Kendall County residents, Rush-Copley will be your partner as the community grows.”
