The Prairie Parkway

  1. Length: 37 miles
  2. Interchanges: 7 (1-80 and I-88; and Routes 30, 34, 71, 47 and 52)
  3. Expected Cost: $955 million
  4. Earmarked  funds: $263 million
  5. Land needed: 2,646 acres
  6. Homes displaced: 22 (for Prairie Parkway and Route 47)
  7. Wetlands affected: 3 acres
  8. Species threatened/endangered: 6
  9. Expected Travel Time: 49 minutes from 1-88 to 1-80 at peak periods (vs. 61 for widened Route 47)
  10. Jobs created: In Kendall County, the highway would result in an additional eight jobs per 100 people vs.
    the no-build option. There would be a minimal impact in Kane.
  11. Construction timeline: The earliest the state could complete the first segment of the Prairie Parkway, from
    Route 30 west of Sugar Grove to Route 71 southwest of Yorkville, is 2011. There is no timeline for other
    segments of the Route 47 widening.
